Interview with the Landscaper

Fellow M/M author Julie Lynn Hayes recently interviewed Tony of Sonoran Heat over at Yaoi Radius. Well, she started out interviewing Tony, then Josh showed up, too. This is the first "character interview" I've ever done, actually, and it was loads of fun! Check it out at:

I hope readers will enjoy getting to know Tony and Josh a little better before their debut at Amber Allure on September 5th!

When truth is stranger than fiction

In my upcoming novel Sonoran Heat, which comes out in one week, my characters share the following exchange:

“Drop by any time after six.” Josh gave Tony his address. At the bolt of lightning streaking across the distant sky, he followed with, “Be careful. You know how crazy Phoenix drivers get when it rains.”

Tony laughed. “Yeah, we get one inch of precipitation, and the next day’s headline is Massive Pileup on I-10. See you soon.”

Some of you may have caught yesterday's headline which made national news:

Multiple Collisions Shut Down I-10 Westbound

By "multiple" they mean three different collisions involving 69 cars total, after a brief but sudden downpour tore through Phoenix. Thankfully, only 7 people went to the hospital, none of their injuries life threatening, while 30 to 40 more people were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Did I predict this? No -- this sort of thing happens in Phoenix every year, whether it's a gentle spring shower, or the violent monsoons that kick in around about now. I can't recall such an incident involving quite so many vehicles, however, and all of them on I-10, not the equally busy I-17 or Loop 101.

Not to mention the uncanny timing. Sometimes we authors just can't make this stuff up. :/

Pre-release review for Sonoran Heat!

I've received the first official review for Sonoran Heat, which hits the virtual stands September 5th! Julie of Yaoi Radius rates it an A and says:

"Katrina Strauss has woven a very warm, comfortable, and sensuous tale about two very real men, whom we get to know and love by the end of the story[...]This one’s a keeper, and has earned a place on my shelf. It should be on yours too. Unless, of course, you don’t like romance. Curmudgeons need not apply."

The full review may be read at: http://yaoiradius.com/?p=626 (Note: The Synopsis portion contains what some readers may consider mild spoilers, so if you are such a reader, you may want to skip to the Commentary.)

Many thanks to Julie for such a nice pre-release review! Check back September 5th when Sonoran Heat goes live!

Tell Amanda Young why you love M/M!

In the spirit of positive thinking, partner-in-crime Amanda Young wants to know:

What do you love about gay romance? What book lured you to the M/M side, and what keeps you there?

You may win one of Amanda's books for answering! Check it out and comment over at Slash & Burn:

http://slash-and-burn.blogspot.com/2010/08/oh-drama.html

Yes, please comment there, not here, to enter the contest, although your thoughts are welcome here as well! I'm tired of explaining why I write M/M, but I will say why I read it: two hot men are better than one, and a good love story between any two people will suck me in anytime. And that's all I've got to say about that. ;)
